At Ohio Wesleyan the neuroscience program combines a
foundation in the basic sciences with more specialized courses in biology, chemistry, and
psychology. This course of study provides students with the necessary background to expand
their interest in as well as preparation for graduate and/or professional study in
neuroscience or related disciplines. This major requires strong science literacy.
The neuroscience major is designed primarily for those students who
become interested in this field as a result of taking courses in chemistry, psychology,
and/or zoology. There are no introductory courses specific to this major, but work in
other departments will provide students with the basis for expanding their interests into
this area. The designation of this major is intended as an academic recognition for
completing these more specialized and advanced courses. As a consequence, a second
departmental major is also required for graduation. This second major may be in one of the
core departments (zoology, psychology, or chemistry) or any other department major within
